WHAT DOES ITAD MEAN
Asset disposition refers to the process of properly disposing of or recycling unwanted or obsolete equipment. Our team helps to streamline the asset disposition process, including pick-up and drop-off services, logistics planning, asset tracking, and data wiping. We work with individuals and large organizations to coordinate recycling plans that are environmentally-friendly and convenient for our customers.
Beyond our recycling services, we also work with individuals and businesses to maximize the value of recovered items by refurbishing them and making them operational again. Our goal is to minimize the environmental impact of electronic waste by refurbishing outdated electronics for redeployment and resale, and recycling items that cannot be salvaged.
Our team offers secure data collection, information storage, data wiping, and hard drive destruction services to ensure your information is secure at all stages of the process. At eCycle, we offer on-site visits to your location where we will remove all information from your devices and transfer it to a secure storage system of your choosing. We can ensure that every device is wiped before it leaves your location. We also ensure hard drive destruction for end-of-life products, and can even offer supervised destruction for reduced liability and maximum security.
For added security and complete transparency with our customers, we offer a detailed tracking report for each asset that comes into our facility. This report will include the status of your item, where it is located in our tracking chain, and what refurbishment or recycling services have taken place. The privacy of your data is one of our top priorities, and our facilities are designed for absolute security.
For more information about how we can guarantee your information remains private and secure throughout the entire process, call our toll-free number at 888-945-2611 or contact us here.
Yes, we offer both Certificates of Destruction & Recycling for any assets that are disposed of by our company. You will receive a free Certificate of Recycling when your asset is picked up by our team or dropped off at one of our locations. For items that are harvested for parts, scrapped, or destroyed, you will also get a Certificate of Destruction for your records.
eCycle Solutions is partnered with Staples to recycle end-of-life products at each business location. For individual consumers, qualified electronics can be dropped off at their respective retail locations.
We also coordinate with other organizations to offer drop-off events. For more information on how to find a public drop-off site, visit our Drop-Off page here.
We refer to devices as “end-of-life” electronics when they have passed the point of being operational devices with any value. Eventually, end-of-life devices will not function properly – often due to the natural depreciation that occurs with electronics over time. At this point, manufacturers stop producing the model and vendors stop selling and marketing the product. We often recommend clients scrap their end-of-life products and harvest them for parts or recycle them entirely.
We accept a wide range of electronic devices including:

Just to be clear, we don’t want to sell your products ourselves. By refurbishing your old electronics, you are maximizing the value of the device – one you were likely planning to replace. Instead of recycling it as is, our goal is to refurbish functional devices so that you can sell them for a profit. While we take a small refurbishment fee depending on the services required to restore function, you will be able to sell it independently.
A diagnostics report covers our evaluation of your electronic device. In this report, we examine any issues with the device and identify possible solutions. If we feel the device is valuable and operational enough to warrant refurbishment, we will provide you with a detailed quote for refurbishment services. This will restore functionality to the device, so it can be redeployed in your office, resold, or donated to charity.
After harvesting any useful parts from your device for reuse, recycle, or resale, we use a combination of manual and mechanical processes to disassemble the device and sort it by material. Each material is then broken down as necessary and reintroduced into the manufacturing process for similar items. In this way, virtually no useful materials from your device are wasted.
Once your item is received by our facility, it is collected and sorted based on the material. We handle the dismantling process and dispose of any hazardous chemicals that may be present in the device. We then send each different material to a processing plant where it can be constructed into new products. At each step of the process, we strive to recycle and dispose of electronic waste while adhering to the highest environmental standards in the industry.
An Environment Handling Fee (EHF) is a charge added to the cost of qualified electronic devices at the point of purchase. This fee is collected by the government and used to help offset the costs of recycling such devices in the future. The fee varies depending on the type of electronic device and the province in which it is purchased.
